the things i'll miss

your infectious laugh and smile.
all those crazy stories you told.
your sassy sassy attitude. :)
every time you gave the "what the hell are you thinking?" look.
all your computer and movie knowledge.
those awesome jokes... ;)
the way you could make anyone laugh.
your ability to turn any frown upside down.
the way my big brother looked up to you and the relationship you two shared.
when you looked at my grandma and i could just tell, even after all those years, that you still so loved and adored her.
and the way she always loved you back.

i pray that someday i'll see you again in heaven. I know you were ready to go, but that doesn't mean we were ready to have you leave. you had a big heart and a smile that could make any day better.

if there's one thing i can say i learned from you more than anyone else, it is how to keep your chin up in the hardest of times. you never gave up and you just keep fighting till the end...never letting the toughness of life bring you down.

i love you.
and i miss you.

i still can't believe you've gone, but in my heart you'll never leave.

i'll see you soon, Gramps.

a few late night thoughts:

nothing exciting. :)

first: i'm really thankful for my friends and the awesome community the Lord has blessed me to be a part of. new friendships are difficult and challenging and vulnerable but so very worth it.

second: i have an awesome new job. like....seriously, how did i get this? i keep asking myself that. It is such a huge answer to my prayers. I'm learning so much and getting to see a whole new side of how Lawyers work. :) i'm blessed beyond what i could have imagined just three months ago. AND getting up early everyday really isn't so bad. kind of refreshing once you get use to it.

third: birthdays are awesome!! however, i think they are a little overrated. i mean, yes. they are fun...but kind of selfish? right? i dunno.

fourth: sometimes a funny movie can really make everything better. watch Just Go With It....you'll agree. :)

fifth: well i don't really know what to put here. other than just to say that lately, i've been really enjoying the weekends. for example: on Sunday afternoon, i met up with an awesome, long time, dear friend (Marci Martinez) to do something some might find...strange? yeah, strange.
somehow, i don't even know how it happened...we had this idea...last summer...that we should go to a park and eat some chocolate cake. (and if you know me at all, you know that i LOVE chocolate cake...haha) so we went to the store, got a chocolate bunt cake and ate (pretty much) the whole thing while sitting at a park having some great conversation.
this past Sunday.....we did it again. :)

the cake:: (before we touched it)

 cake:: mid-consumption

the cake:: all gone!! :)

life is pretty great right now.
God is so good and I'm so blessed.
:)

p.s. we didn't actually eat all the cake....we actually barely even ate half of it.....sure fooled you.

some days i just really miss life in mexico

i think those/these days are mostly when the weather is like this....cloudy, chilly, but warm.
there's just something about that place that makes my heart so content!
hopefully someday i'll go back.
hopefully sooner than later.
and if not, well then i pray that my heart will feel the same kind of longing and peace that it does while i'm down there...in whatever it is i end up doing.
God is so gracious and loving...i know He has something planned for this crazy, mexican heart of mine.

project joy. :)
ooooh the crazy things Steph and I would find in donations bins

villages and the children

dear friends.

life changing family moments

crazy children. :)

painting, painting, painting

being covered in dry-wall dust after a long week of house-building.

don't miss: the flooding roads after a small rain storm :)

prosperity,

i found this quote in the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan:
"It is not scientific doubt, not atheism, not pantheism, not agnosticism, that in our day and in this land is likely to quench the light of the gospel. It is a proud, sensuous, selfish, luxurious, church-going, hollow-hearted prosperity." - Frederick D. Huntington, Forum Magazine 1890

just think about it.

happy three day weekend. :)

today was wonderful.
most days lately have been wonderful, actually.
i love summer. and i feel like this summer is going to be one to remember. :)

reasons summer is so great:
-late night escapades.
-dutch bros whenever we want it.
-new (awesome) job.
-the river. the lake.
-awesome days spent with awesome friends.
-no homework...yet.
-many, many, many other reasons.
-....oh!..my birthday. :) :) [june 14th]
-...and lots and lots of really great Giants games.

Psalm 62:5-8:
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God,
He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to Him,
for God is our refuge."

Why do i love this passage so much?
-it reminds me of the hope i have in my savior. a hope that goes much deeper than anything i can even comprehend. an eternal hope.
-"for God is our refuge." how beautiful is that? he loves us so deeply and desires to be our comfort and place of refuge. i don't deserve it, but He knows more than me just how much i need Him.
- according to dictionary.com, the word fortress means "any place of exceptional security; stronghold." in his love and salvation, i am secure. I can feel safe and strong knowing that having Jesus Christ as my Savior leaves my soul unshakeable. :)
In general, this passage has been very important to me at many different points of my life.

new chapters...

well today was my first official day as receptionist for Morse, Geisler, Callister & Karlin, LLP. :)
and oh, what an adventure it was.
actually, it wasn't really an adventure at all....i filed papers and organized mail. whoo.
but i DID go to HOOTERS for lunch. ha! that was a first.

i think my favorite part of my new job is that i finally get to actually get ready for work....you know, instead of just rolling out of bed and getting in my car like i'm use to doing. :)
oh...and! i guess there are some vicious attacking birds in the parking lot.
so maybe that'll be a fun story for me to tell someday.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

no more nanny

today is my last day of being a nanny for cute little Claire.
it's a bittersweet kind of thing...because i'm so excited to start a "real job" tomorrow, but at the same time, i've really enjoyed my time as "Nanny Britt" and i'm a little sad to see it end so quickly.

some things i've learned while being a nanny:
- a nap can quickly take a fussy child and make her a happy child.
- no body likes a crying baby.
- sometimes a baby will cry just because it wants to.
- baby food never smells good.
- i will never use cloth diapers...sorry planet.
- nap time will forever be my favorite time.
- a lot of toys are not better than just one toy...they will only distract and confuse.

tomorrow i start my real job! it feels like the beginning of....not really a new chapter...but maybe a new mini book inside a book of many books...which i guess is a chapter. :)
i'm excited, nervous and...nervous about it.

but mostly i'm excited.

Yesterday, i was trying to find a picture of something on google images, but instead i found this dress...and i fell in love. :)

isn't it incredible!? i love it!!

two stamp tuesday

third post in one day. :)
whatevs.

its Two Stamp Tuesday at Dutch Bros in Auburn!!
lets go!

Dutch Bros has become a recent love of mine. If you haven't yet had it, then woah, get your bootay up to Auburn and enjoy some great coffee goodness.
I've had it four times in one week. :)

you won't be disappointed.

well it definitely makes me laugh...

how about a blog...

a few things:
when i write, i like to do it without caring about grammar or punctuation or correct spelling or any of that. sorry. :)
its summer time and i'm ever so excited about it.
i don't think anyone is going to read this. haha, but that's okay with me. :)
i'm pretty sure i put too many smiley faces when i write or text. (i'd put one here but i feel like i shouldn't)
i love love love the Giants.
i especially love a good game with extra innings. my fave!

on a slightly more serious note:
my whole life i've learned about God.
i've been learning pieces of Him.
His grace, His mercy, His love, His comfort, His anger, His jealousy...
but right now, in this chapter of my life, i'm just learning His story.
i've heard enough concepts. i've sat through enough sermons on a certain topic.
I just want to know his WORD.
so i'm working on that.
its not easy, its not simple.
but He's growing my faith and teaching me so much about who He is.
so far it's been a beautiful journey...and its only just begun.
